Floodwaters inundate areas of Southern Punjab



RAJAN PUR: Heavy rains are expected to lash areas already devastated by the worst floods in 80 years, probably intensifying the calamity that has killed more than 1500 and displaced millions.

After wreaking havoc in Khyber Pakthtunkwa the raging floodwaters inundated the areas of Southern Punjab. Tehsil Jam Pur of Rajan Pur was under water Friday where thousands affected were waiting for aid.

Areas of Kotla Mughlan and Kot Mithan were flooded after raging water busted the embankments. Floodwater of 2,80,000 cusecs entered in Nom Poor II area of Multan.

"We're forecasting widespread rains in the country, especially in flood-affected areas," Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, director general of the department, sad, adding the downpours are expected in the next two days.
